The wee bit
Wow – where is the year going! I can’t believe June is nearly over. If you haven’t yet booked your holidays for this year, do check out the fabulous holidays that have been put together by our Spice UK team – it’s a great opportunity to go somewhere you have never been to, and you don’t even have to find someone to go with, as you are sure to meet a whole bunch of new Spice friends!
We have some great news – the Spice London team won the National Dragonboat Championships at the end of May – many congrats to the team! Amazing stuff - especially considering some of them had never raced Dragonboats before! If this has inspired you, book now for the next Dragonboat weekend 6-8th August, or maybe just try out this exhilarating sport with an evening session on the Docklands.
Many thanks to everyone who supported our regional Charity Fish & Chip Suppers –35 Spice members attended suppers in London, Richmond and St Albans, raising a fantastic £175 for the Spinal Injuries Association!
It’s now officially summer, so do take advantage of the opportunity to get out and about into the sunshine (hopefully!). As usual we have loads of guided walks booked throughout our region, or maybe try something new such as Roller-blading or Rollerski-ing in Hyde Park, Segway at Leeds Castle, Mountain boarding, Land yachting, Rock climbing or Zip Wires & High Ropes. It’s also that time of year for our annual Rounders & Picnic in Hyde Park!
Want to try out a new sport – what about Golfing for the Terrified, Shoot a Crossbow, Archery or Clay pigeon shooting? If getting out on the water is your thing, why not join us Kayaking with Seals, or Kayaking on the Thames. There are trips on Paddleboats and Canal boats, Canoe Cruising on the River Wye weekends, have a go at Waterski-ing, or why not Blast down the Thames on a Rib.
We have a treat for animal lovers with our exclusive Big Cat Encounter with BBQ or the Sunset Safari at Port Lympne is a real must do event. London Zoo have a late night opening so we have secured some tickets for this very popular evening. You could also have a relaxing walk with Llamas or a howling time with our Walks with Wolves!
As usual we have lots of Theatre and Concert trips booked for the Summer. Why not try an outdoor concert such as Proms at Rochester Castle, Opera in the Park, Aled Jones Classical Concert or maybe Tony Hadley at the Hampton Court Jazz & Beer Festival. For a double bonus, we are going to some fantastic events consisting of Horse Racing AND a Concert – we are going to Epsom to see X Factor finalists JLS, Sandown to see boy band Westlife, and Ascot to see an 80’s pop concert!
And don’t forget the highlight of the summer social programme – the Spice Summer Ball at the fabulous new venue – the Conservatory at the Millennium Hotel in Kensington! Treat yourself and stay the night! What a fantastic programme – how do we fit it all in! Have a fabulous summer – and I hope to see you on some events soon.
