The wee bit

Dianne Livingstone - Spice London Co-ordinatorHi Everyone,

Welcome to our bumper March/April edition. It’s been a very busy month here in the Spice office and wonderful to see so many new members joining, despite the recession! Great to have you on board and we look forward to sharing some adventures with you.

Last month seemed to fly by with many events selling out, and we have been busy organising extra dates for some of our more popular events. The "Battle of the Regions" Pub Quiz was another great success with 66 members taking part in 8 different locations across the region, including 19 people in Maidstone!! Well done to the Guildford team who triumphed, just beating Chelmsford by 1 point.

We have such a varied programme for you in this newsletter – there really is something for everyone, whatever your interests. Prize for the maddest event in our programme must go to the World’s Wackiest Racers – driving round a race track on a motorised Bed!

Spring is nearly here - the nights are getting shorter and everyone is thinking about venturing outdoors again. If you’re wanting to get outside to make the most of the Spring weather, we’ve got loads to keep you busy – what about land yachting, quad biking, crossbow shooting, rollerblading, Dragonboat racing, Segway driving, archery or horse-riding? If getting out on the water is your thing, try the Zapcat in the Solent, Blast down the Thames on a RIB, a Sailing weekend or Dragonboat racing! Or if you just want to enjoy the outdoors at a more leisurely pace, join one of our many Spring walks – we have evening walks, country walks and walking weekends galore.

Our weekend events are selling really well at the moment and so if there’s a particular event you are interested in, you need to get your booking in fast. Some weekends are shared with other Spice groups, and so spaces can go very quickly. We’ve got some fabulous weekends booked, in particular over Easter and the May Bank Holidays. Easter breaks we still have spaces on include Walking Breaks in Wales, Devon & the Lake District, and Sailing in Sardinia.

This month’s programme includes the 2 May Bank Holiday weekends as we know you like to take advantage of the longer weekend breaks - check out the fabulous Dance Party Weekend! We’ve only just put Center Parks Sherwood Forest in the programme for June, but spaces are already selling fast – join the 100’s of Spice members from across the country having a brilliant time at one of our legendary Center Parcs weekends!

I have been very busy co-ordinating a few Ski Trips in the last 2 months – great to meet so many of you! The snow has been fabulous this year which always helps to keep everyone happy. Our Spice London ski trips just get more and more popular – with 40 people in Tignes in January and 46 booked to go to Italy in mid March! For those of you departing on ski trips this month – I hope you all have a wonderful time.

Have a great month. We hope you enjoying reading the newsletter and find that ‘must do’ event.
